Wheeling, WV–Jesuit’s success at the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University didn’t go unnoticed as the Cardinals swept this week’s WVIAC awards.
Megan Truelove received the women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her record breaking performance in the 5000 meter run. Truelove finished the race with a time of 17:54.25 which rewrote WJU’s record book. The Winfield High School standout holds the WVIAC’s top times in the 5000 and 3000 meter events.
On the men’s side, Dustin Hall and Julio Villatoro received week #4 honors.
Hall earned the Track Athlete of the Week award after his personal best performance at the Big Meet. He finished the 5000m run with a time of 14:58.76. The sub-fifteen minute 5k stands as the conference’s fastest time.
On the other hand, Villatoro used the throwing events at Grand Valley to secure the conference’s Field Athlete of the Week. His throws of 15.11m (49’7”) with the weight and 13.97m (45’10”) in the shot put were personal best records. Villatoro currently ranks second in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put.
