For two periods Monday night Wheeling Park dominated McDowell, Pa., on the ice, but led only 1-0. The McDowell Trojans rallied back and took action for most of the third period and overtime to stalemate a tie between the two.
A second goal by McDowell’s Steve Martin with 6:44 to go in regulation tied things up at 2-2, which would ultimately be the final. Martin was assisted by Ryan Guzek and Sean Perhacs.
The Patriots (1-1-1) will head into Thursday night against visiting Mt. Lebanon at 8:30 p.m. back on their home ice in Wheeling. McDowell will host Sececa Valley on the same night for a 8:15 puck drop.
