Building an offense starts around one player and that player is usually the quarterback.
When Dana Holgorsen came to WVU, he inherited a great quarterback in Geno Smith. In the past, Holgorsen has coached college studs like Brandon Weeden and Case Keenum who both set records of their own. In the upcoming season, we’ll see either Paul Millard or Ford Childress take the reins. But now, Holgorsen has just gotten the highest rated quarterback he’s ever had during his time as a head coach with the commitment of dual-threat quarterback, William Crest.
Crest, a 6’2” 195 pound quarterback from Dunbar, MD, is currently ranked the 7th best dual-threat quarterback in the 2014 recruiting class by Rivals.com. Crest also had offers on the table from Maryland, North Carolina, Rutgers, and the other school in the Ohio Valley, Ohio State.
Crest is a highly athletic quarterback. He has great arm strength and can make solid throws deep down the field. Much like Smith, Crest is poised in the pocket and doesn’t mind moving to make something happen. He’s quick and runs fluidly. He’s also had time under center and in the shotgun during his time at Dunbar. With Holgorsen designing the offense, Crest fits perfectly.
Just remember another recruit from Dunbar (cough, cough, Tavon Austin, cough, cough).
Joining him so far on the list for 2014 is receiver Ricky Rogers. Rogers is a product of Monroeville, Pennsylvania and is ranked the 55th best receiver according to Rivals.com. He turned down Pittsburgh and Rutgers and committed to WVU back in December.

With these two guys starting out the 2014 recruiting class, WVU could be in good shape.
