MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team begins its outdoor season splitting competition between the Stanford Invitational in Stanford , Calif., and the Bill Van Horne Invitational in Wheeling, W.Va.
At Stanford, competition will begin at 2 p.m. EST on Friday, March 25 and will conclude on Saturday, March 26.
In one of the most competitive meets of the outdoor season, WVU will feature a loaded lineup in the 1,500-meter run with Keri Bland, Kaylyn Christopher, Aubrey Moskal, Jamie Cokeley, Sarah Martinelli and Stephanie Aldea all set to compete, while Bland, Christopher and Aldea will also participate in the 800-meter run.
Senior All-Americans Chelsea Carrier and April Rotilio lead the sprint and hurdle events as they compete in the 100-meter hurdles and 200- and 400-meter dashes, respectively.
Freshman Chené Townsend will run the 100-meter dash and join Carrier in the 100-meter hurdles. Senior Jordann Mitchell and freshman Allison Tyree will also compete in the 400-meter dash.
In the field events, Carrier, senior Katelyn Williams and sophomore Sydney Cummings will compete in the high jump, while junior Meghan Mock will compete in the long jump.
The rest of the team including the pole vaulters and throwers will start competition at the Bill Van Horne Invitational on Saturday.
