MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– Senior Katelyn Williams is off to a good start as she represents the West Virginia University track and field team in the heptathlon at the BIG EAST Championships this weekend in Villanova, Pa.
Williams has completed four of the seven events including the high jump in which she took first place while matching her personal best jump of 1.79 meters.
She also placed third in the shot put (11.09 meters), fifth in the 200-meter dash (25.83) and eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.43).
“Katelyn is off to a great start,” coach Sean Cleary says. “She was very consistent today and I am excited to see her attack tomorrow.”
Also competing today, senior Ternia Miller finished 10th in the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 49.93 meters.
The Mountaineers will continue action tomorrow starting at 9 a.m., with the completion of the heptathlon.
“The team is rested and focused,” Cleary adds. “It is time to find out how good we are.”
