CHICAGO – West Virginia sophomore guard Terry Henderson’s baseline slam over multiple defenders vs. Missouri on Dec. 5 is nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced today.
Each week for eight weeks, four incredible college basketball plays will be nominated as the GEICO Play of the Year. Each week’s winner will be determined by fan voting through the official Facebook page (facebook.com/BestofCollegeBasketball). The eight finalists will compete in a week-long competition to determine the GEICO Play of the Year. The winner will be announced during the GEICO Best of College Basketball special which airs March 29 at 2 P.M. ET on CBS.
With 4:40 left to go in the first half and West Virginia trailing Missouri by 9, West Virginia’s Nathan Adrian found Henderson in the corner who drove baseline for a huge dunk over three of Missouri’s defenders. Although Henderson finished the game with 14 points, West Virginia fell to Missouri 71-80.
Henderson’s baseline slam is competing against three other plays from week one, including a game-winning jumper by UConn’s Shabazz Napier, a game-winning three by Dayton’s Jordan Sibert and a huge dunk by Marquette’s Deonte Burton.
