Tavon Austin impressed many at the NFL scouting combine with his 4.25 (Hand-timed) 40 yard dash. This came a day after Austin told reporters that he would run a sub-4.3 which had people scoffing at him. For WVU fans and supporters, this performance was not surprising at all. It has boosted him to a high to mid first round pick, and there is even the outside possibility of him getting drafted by the Steelers.
If any of you had the chance to witness the mind-blowing performance he put on against Oklahoma last season (I witnessed in person), you were probably expecting something like this. Even former Mountaineer great, Major Harris, was on the sidelines enjoying the show Austin put on against Oklahoma defenders. He finished his career at WVU with 288 Receptions for 3413 yards and 29 TD’s. He also rushed for 1031 yards and 6 TD’s and returned 4 kicks and 1 punt to the house.
His ability to create plays and change directions on a dime makes him one of the most lethal players in the upcoming draft. He can do things that only few can do and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. It has many NFL fans wishing for him to be drafted by their team.
The guys at NFL.com compare Austin to Randall Cobb while NFL Network says he was a Wes Welker. He is probably more comparable to a Percy Harvin but without the frequent injury.
